Elizabeth R. Koch Foundation Request for Proposals 2025

Elizabeth R. Koch Foundation is dedicated to supporting the heroes of community care—people and organizations who show up for others in moments of need, transition, or hardship.

Our initial focus is on those who serve the Los Angeles community, specifically after-school programs offering stability and mentorship, first responders who bring calm in chaos, and safe spaces for young people navigating uncertainty. We also support mental health services, crisis response teams, grief support networks, and others who help individuals through life’s harder moments and beyond.

But our definition of care is broad and deeply human.

These are the people and places that restore connection—person to person and community to community. The Foundation exists to support and strengthen this kind of care: relational, local, communal, often invisible, but profoundly impactful.

To launch our giving, we are issuing this Request for Proposals (RFP) to award grants ranging from $25,000 to $50,000 to 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations operating in Los Angeles County. Eligible organizations must have a minimum annual budget of $250,000, with no maximum budget cap. National organizations are welcome to apply as long as the grant is used to support their Los Angeles County–based operations/programs. Elizabeth R. Koch Foundation does not fund political or advocacy activities.

For this initial RFP, we’re providing flexibility through one-time, unrestricted grants designed to strengthen the vital work of local nonprofits. Whether used for programs or operational support, this funding is intended to help amplify the meaningful impact that organizations have on individuals and the broader Los Angeles community.
